And that brings an end to the 2010 Paralympic Games!

It was another beautiful day yesterday at Whistler. Jasmin finished 22nd in the Super G. He said the course was pretty rough and icy. All in all, we are happy with his first Paralympic Games. After only two years of training, he had a phenomenal top 10 finish in the Downhill.
Jasmin has really met adversity head on and has overcome so many obsticals in the last few years. It was only 18 months ago, the doctor told me he was fighting for his life after contracting ganggreen in a pressure sore. After all of Jasmin's surgeries, he talked about how ready he was to hit the slopes and start training again. Skiing is what makes him feel alive and free from that darn wheelchair.
Jasmin has learned so much from these games! He is so excited about training for the next four years and being even more prepared for Sochi 2014!!
Thank you for all support and encouragement as Jasmin accommplished his dream of competing in the Parlaympics! Please keep in touch with us! sbambur@hotmail.com and dzas1@hotmail.com

Bring on the great weather and great racing!

There was not a cloud in the sky as Jasmin raced Downhill today. He was last in the sitting category which created some problems with ruts and slush. After ten monoskiiers crashed, Jasmin skiied almost a flawless race. He finished in 9th place!! An absolutely amazing accomplishment considering only two years of training. We are all so proud of Jasmin!!! Tomorrow is the Super G...Keep it up Jas!!!

Cold and Rainy

Today was the coldest and rainiest day yet! Everyone was soaked to the bone as we watched Giant Slalom today...even the athletes! It made for a rough day of racing. More than half of the racers fell on the slushy and rutty course and ten racers lost their ski. Unforturnately, Jasmin was one of those ten. He was really disappointed to have equipment issues, but hopes to have a good day off and good weather this week to finish out the Paralympics with a solid Super G and Downhill. It's NOW or NEVER Jas...we are all rootin' for you!

Slalom Race Today

Jasmin finished the Slalom in 25th place. He had a great first run and was in 17th place. On the 2nd run, he fell in a rut and got up pretty quickly, but he was not able to gain back his time. Overall, he is happy with his finish given Slalom is not one of his strong events. He has the day off tomorrow, then the Giant Slalom on Tuesday 3/16. So tomorrow is a day of working out at the gym, rest and visiting with family.

There was a huge crowd out today to suport all the athletes as they prepared for the race. The weather was beautiful and everyone was ready....until the fog rolled in. The race was delayed 3 hours before they decided to cancel. The shedule has changed for all the races and Jasmin will be racing the Slalom tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. GO JASMIN GO!!!

Opening Ceremony

Jasmin carried the Serbian flag as forty thousand people cheered him on! He was smiling from ear to ear! The performances and graphics of the Opening Ceremony were amazing and the crowd was electric. I've never see anything like it! Jasmin is on his way back up to Whistler now as he prepares for the Downhill race tomorrow. He has to be on the hill at 6:30am and the race starts at 11:30. Whistler got 21 inches of snow yesterday so hopefully conditions will be suitable for speed tomorrow. I will post some pics soon! Ski fast Jas!
